I’m a knitter and web designer, and I learned Swift so I could make a ruler and row counting app for my projects. It’s called Fiber Friend and I’m proud of it 🥰 fiberfriend.app

My wallet fell out of my pocket this morning and I didn't notice until I got back to my motorcycle and noticed it on the ground *under my kickstand*. Impossible odds.

I’ve always loved the vibe of classic square-headlight Kawasakis. Nothing wears green better, and this ‘97-00 ZRX1100 looks especially good with the golden state as a backdrop.

it's wild how the internet has gone from "everyone uses a pseudonym and nobody is who they say they are" to "we need impersonation warnings on satire or people will thoughtlessly treat it as fact"

The decentralized social media environment is booming! Between Threads (ActivityPub that doesn't federate) and Bluesky (AT Protocol that doesn't federate), the possibilities are endless.

I wrote a 5-minute freedive on the topic of caching, with a bit of "things software can learn (and build upon) from hardware" thrown in https://numi.st/post/2023/caches-make-predictions-about-the-future/

Invite trees are a powerful moderation tool for admins, but arbitrary reaction emojis are a powerful moderation tool for the people. Why are we still settling for stars/hearts in this day and age?

And of course they forcibly twist the discourse from "do your job or admit you can't" to just "resign" in the process.

Both. The invite tree accountability makes people more judicious about bringing in solid people, the early suspensions of bad accounts increased trust/confidence about commitment to safety, and the smaller community feels safer too.

I do get nervous for #s going up & harassment campaigns starting
Does it feel safer and more fun because of the product itself or because our community is still relatively small so we feel safer to share thoughts?

(I dun have an answer)

It's nice to see this place learning something that TMBO has known for years: bans are more effective when you need an invite to get back in

Next step: bans (or at least time-outs) for people who invited people who got banned
