In 2001, the Segway was released with great fanfare. Everyone would want one. It was going to catalyze a revolution in human mobility. Cities would be built around their capabilities. Eventually, of course, none of that happened, and the company's president fell off a cliff riding one. Memories.

When the awards are made, we'll be able to see which schools / states (red vs blue) get them. With such a sudden surprise offering spanning Thanksgiving, it seems likely to fund some real boondoggles. Not a good way to run a federal grant program. If fellow Geeks have insights, do chime in. <end>

It carries a brutal 30-day turnaround and a wide array of Absolute Priorities. The grapevine suggests the program is really a way to (A) spend congressionally-appropriated FY25 money that Sec McMahon has leftover from gutting the workforce, and (B) channel dollars to cronies in higher ed. –>

I bet the Ford and MacArthur Foundations, maybe with McKenzie Scott, too, could partner to stand up a helluva strong newspaper with recently laid off and independent news talent looking for their next gig.

Seems strange that Gisele has been no where near this memoir rollout, given how personal the content is. From an outsiders perspective, looks like zero support. I assume their marriage is pretty well over?
