*looks around* What short term gains does Thomas Wright thinks we’ve made? Certainly none that didn’t bring us back to the status quo. And frankly, if the Atlantic can’t figure out that Trump is only tough when he has a financial stake in the outcome, then maybe it’s time to shut down…

grievance issues they no longer needed to do the hard work of writing policy. The policy was simply to oppose Obama and win back seats lost to Dems by pushing racist and xenophobic ideas. (End)

support (that never came). Republicans CAN’T fix the ACA because they are incapable of forming policy positions and actually governing. It’s been 17 years since W left and all the GOP policy wonks left DC with him. Once they realized they could win elections on nothing aside from contrived (2/x)

Reagan republicans ca. 2010 opposed a healthcare solution because they knew a single-payer system would destroy the lobbying dollars from private insurance and be popular among most of the population. The ACA was crafted using parts of old Heritage ideas and Romneycare to get bipartisan (1/x)

Honestly, if I’m a Republican getting called out by Trump, I would look no further than MTG in how to respond to him. They’re sooooo close to getting it—I can only hope Marge is the beginning of the dam finally breaking. Dude is incredibly weak and has zero interest in governing. Only enrichment…

Laughs in ACA while John Roberts pleasures himself at the thought of people not having health insurance…

The man can barely stay away in meetings, he’s not directing some giant conspiracy behind the scenes. Republicans get to vote like he told them to, he’ll sign and order Bondi to release everything in 90 days or whatever, giving him ample opportunity to do something crazy to distract you. (end)

Every here saying he’s got some weird plan…no. The man isn’t playing 4D chess. He just doesn’t want to look or the blame for anything. He knows he looks weak if Republicans in Congress start defying him. That sets up all sorts of weird issues later when he needs them rubber stamping corruption (1/x)

Again, the “following orders” defense didn’t work at Nuremberg and it shouldn’t work when he’s gone. If you’re the CIA officer or service member releasing the missile, you deserve to get hauled into court and taken through the wringer … and so should everyone in the chain that gave the order.

Fire and indict the kidnappers? Maybe that’s a fool’s errand, but I think if we don’t charge and seek convictions against ICE officers who are unmasked, on camera doing clearly abusive things, then we’re just inviting it to happen in the future.

Since she’s deceased, what purpose is there to redact her name from anything?

Also, who did the redactions? If it was the Oversight Committee, that’s all you need to know—it wasn’t Guiffre.

So, yes, they “meet” but basically someone is appointed by the Speaker to call it to order, say the pledge and a prayer, and then adjourn until the next day. Tomorrow’s session will likely be over by 12:10 because the house is technically on break until the 17th based on their original calendar
November 11, 2025 at 6:37 PM
When they are on break, they still have pro forma sessions to meet their Article I requirements that they not have a break for more than 3 days during a session without the approval of the other chamber. It makes it difficult for the public to keep track without juggling several calendars…

The 21st was not a scheduled work day on the original calendar for the 119th 1st session. In fact, they’re technically on break until November 17. My guess is Johnson is going to keep them out until then and just work the full week rather than break after Thursday votes which is typical.

Sure, grandpa, the US intervention in Russia after the civil war and our adventurism in Latin America as part of the Banana Wars equate with stunning military victories between WWI and WWII. How did Korea and ‘Nam and Afghanistan end up for us? Did we win those, too???

Jfc. There’s no way we can meet the energy demands of data centers and crypto mines before the AI economy collapses in on itself. It’s okay though—Republicans will be there to take away your healthcare and starve poor people so the billionaires responsible for all of it don’t have to pay to fix it.

all of this is just so Hegseth and Trump can go on TV and talk about killing people most of us don’t have sympathy for. It’s not really about narcotraffickers. It’s about desensitizing you to the State’s violation of rules and norms so when they start violating them for US citizens, you won’t care.
November 11, 2025 at 4:17 PM
smart. In fact, this is the worst way to prosecute a narrowly scoped “war”: randomly blow up boats that an intelligence report has identified as “potential trafficking vessels” or whatever language they’ve used without verifying who’s on board, or detaining them for interrogation. Sorry brah…
November 11, 2025 at 4:17 PM
without any effort to take them into custody. Let’s say we believe Trump and agree that narco traffickers are “terrorists”. It makes much more sense to detain them and gather intelligence from them than simply kill them—especially if they’re involved in logistics or smuggling. None of this is…

This is the danger of labeling regular criminal activity as terrorism—and calling your political opposition terrorists. It allows the State to unalive people with no oversight or accountability. Where’s the proof? And even if they were drug smugglers, they’re being murdered in international waters…

Cool, cool. Keep digging. 😃 Several other partners don’t want share with us in the Trump era because we can’t keep their information secure or we use it to commit human rights violations!
