I heard back from the local Secular Franciscans tonight! I'll be attending their July meeting. I can join the Friends of the Fransiscans until I'm confirmed and once confirmed I can begin the discernment process and formation classes. Thanks be to God!

Every day I appeal to God, asking that He frustrates the plans of the cunning in our government. Much can be learned about the patient bearing of trials in the Book of Job, but faith without works is dead. I also seek ways I can actively intervene and be of service to the marginalized and oppressed.

I have a new favorite breakfast which is thankfully considerably more affordable than eggs, cheese, and potatoes. Hot cereal with a scoop of strawberry protein powder, almonds, dried cranberries, raisins, and unsweetened shredded coconut. Delicious and nutritious!

Tonight I made a comfort food I haven't had for decades: Gram's strawberry shortcake. One bite and I was back in 1981, Gram's living room, brow eating this, watching Lawrence Welk, Love Boat, Fantasy Island, drinking Lipton iced tea, snacking on Ritz crackers & Easy Cheese. I almost wept.
