The task apparently was “random acts of kindness.” I am struggling to comprehend how somebody thought this was a good idea; this experiment certainly does show how detached from reality humans can be… so no new insight.

Yeah, studying emergent dynamics of multi-agent systems is totally a thing — which you do in a controlled environment to test some hypothesis and write a paper about. They just let the system run wild like it would give some profound insight… I don’t know what they expected to happen.

It’s supposed to be some sort of “game of life” but with LLMs. I have no idea why they gave them unlimited access like that, what the hell is even the task they were supposed to solve there???
