The film Maria fails to capture Callas’s artistic essence, focusing on her celebrity and personal relationships rather than her voice and the depth of her artistry.

Of course, I’ll still watch the film.
Pablo Larraín’s “Maria,” the third in his trilogy of grandes-dames bio-pics, gets lost in a tangle of narrative stuffing, @tnyfrontrow.bsky.social writes. But Angelina Jolie’s rendition of the protagonist is persuasive and movingly operatic.
The Operatic Drama of “Maria” Misses Its Cue
Despite Angelina Jolie’s passionate performance, this sensationalized story of Maria Callas’s last days neglects the diva’s true art.

In What Next?, Trotsky analyzed how Germany's middle class, battered by the crisis, became a cornerstone of Nazism.
He criticized the Left for its lack of unity and failure to reach out to these social strata, which were left to fall under Hitler's influence.

I can’t tell you how different it is on X now after so many people have left. I have always followed mostly right-wing accounts because I cover them, and they are running out of people to pick fights with. So they’re just mostly fighting with each other.

Today, I treat banned books just like I used to with the magazines in the drug store when I was a kid; the ones that had a black plastic covering over the outside and were placed on the back row.

I suspected there was something inside that I wanted to see, and...most of the time...I was right.

Obviously, some companies do have problem with advertising on a platform where their ads might appear alongside hate speech, Nazi ideology, or white supremacist propaganda 🤔
According to Texas AG Ken Paxton, choosing not to advertise on ExTwitter deserves being investigated, and Elon is all for it. Remember when these guys pretended to be for free markets and free speech?

Algorithms on platforms like Apple, Google, and Facebook isolate individuals in tailored informational bubbles. These personalized realities reinforce biases and fragment shared perspectives, undermining political discourse. The algorithm-driven silos make mutual understanding nearly impossible.

For the @nytimes.com I wrote about how Enough is Enough with the incumbent president and his cabinet of folly and let’s stop coddling Trump voters and be real clear-eyed about what lies ahead. www.nytimes.com/2024/11/17/o...
Opinion | Enough
To suggest we should yield even a little to Trump’s odious politics is unacceptable. Even if we did, it would never be enough.
