Been to the cinema to see #Palestine36. When the film ended everyone sat in shocked silence. No one got up to leave, not a word was spoken, we all sat there watching the credits whilst trying to process what we had just seen.

If you asked me to come up with the names of politicians who are publicly and unapologetically pro-LGBT and pro-trans rights in particular, two of the most obvious would now both be Muslim mayors of major cities. And both are routinely smeared as regards to 'Sharia Law'.

During this month in 1887, the public first learned of the investigative exploits of the amateur detective, Sherlock Holmes.

The first memoir of one of his cases, penned by his colleague Dr. John Watson, was published as A Study in Scarlet in the November 1887 Beeton’s Christmas Annual.
