A letter arrived other day to us from me, apparently I signed up for a service that held your mail from start of year & sent it to you at end. A time capsule that completely slipped my mind, but nice to have these words from the past wishing courage, resilience & kindness as we faced unknowns ahead…

Exactly this (from my comic spinweaveandcut.com/election-202...)

That panel was followed by this - a step forward, but here we are…

Objects in mirror are closer than they appear… Ruby Bridges is only 71 (from my 2024 election comic spinweaveandcut.com/election-202...)

Oh, one last last one. I couldn’t find it earlier but I knew I’d shared it before. I don’t know if it’s about musk, bezos, or Zuckerberg, but either way it’s sadly perfect for our times…

A few more favorites I’ve posted over the years…

not in this collection of his work, but a favorite and rare crossover with superhero characters by Gauld that I just came across in my files...

He really doesn’t quit with these, it’s a real treat to look forward to each week in my science mag… both my interest in comics formalism and science intersect nicely!

So geeked to hold this gem by @tomgauld.bsky.social in my hands! While I’ve read most of these in @newscientist.com great to have them in one sharp book! I’m particularly fond of the ones where he plays with comics conceptually, but all of them are brilliant & funny, he never misses! Good stuff!

One of my small delights in my week, is riding my bike down the hall from my comics lab to the elevator end of the day when no one is around…
(Also, I’ve tried to film this many times over the past year - and almost killed myself every single time…)

I'd like to think this will finally be the thing to make his supporters turn on him. But I don't know - who he is has been obvious from the start. Yes - he's a monstrous person, but the problem is everyone who sees that, and says I'm ok with that actually...

Party today for my boy who turns 7 later this month, I’m not two seconds out the door carrying balloons to the park when bus driver on his break shouts out at me “6-7!”
Living the dream here…

Some setbacks in time over the past month, and overthinking how I wanted to ink the most recent row, but 20/30 panels done on the origin of the solar system - the pantheon is taking shape... Excited to see it all coming together!

I should've posted the correct reading paths for any who are still (understandably) mystified by them. Here you go!
November 11, 2025 at 6:49 AM
2/2 here are a few of the sample "bad" layouts they made today. Now they will try to solve them using characters breaking panels, word balloons, SFX, captions, any elements they can to try & make a clear reading path. Give it a try w/one of these or post your own unclear layout for others to try!
November 10, 2025 at 11:41 PM
1/2 An activity you can try! I do a brief discussion of unclear compositions: sharing these from Jungle Comics, a bit from @neilcohn.bsky.social's studies on layout readability, then students draw intentionally "Bad" layouts - where reading order isn't clear from design & 2nd student tries to solve!

Of less consequential matters this night, my boy was drawing sea monsters after dinner so I decided to join him for a few minutes and continue my celebration of our own Naga…

Sharing @billamend.bsky.social’s spot on cartoon for tonight with alt-text added. And ugh.

I’d come to the bookstore to pick up this delightful little book by @kibblesmith.com & co! I expect kiddos and I will have a delightful time diving into it!
November 9, 2025 at 5:15 PM
Always feels good when you walk into your local bookstore to pick up books and your book is also on display there! Thanks, @booksmith.bsky.social! (It’s a great store for those in SF!)

Working white zone at my kids’ school this morning, fireman come to check stuck elevator, one says to me (assuming I work at the school): yo, Clark Kent (asking for the elevator key, referring to my Superman hat) - a funny start to the day…
November 6, 2025 at 5:16 PM
I will never not think seeing this crazy monster in the dark isn’t amazing!
November 6, 2025 at 4:43 AM
A perfect night in SF, sea serpent Naga and the full moon on car-free JFK…
November 6, 2025 at 3:54 AM
Absolute treat today in class, particularly after yesterday’s Election Day, as @andrewaydin.bsky.social joined my class to talk March and how the comics medium can be such a powerful force for change! Students and I left fired up and ready to get back to work!
