I was surprised to see several garden types recently in a local ecopark I was doing an invasives audit on.

Canada lily (Lilium canadense), wood lily (Lilium philadelphicum), Lilium superbum are all indigenous and wonderful alternatives.

It will take All Hands On Deck to prevent invasive mussels from damaging our lakes and rivers. Boaters, anglers, cottagers, divers… everyone has a role to play.

It is all over Nova Scotia. Imported to North America around 1886 as an ornamental garden plant, it has had a lot of time to establish itself.
