It is all over Nova Scotia. Imported to North America around 1886 as an ornamental garden plant, it has had a lot of time to establish itself.

⚠️ New invasive species observed in Nova Scotia! A single Oriental Weatherfish was reported in the LaHave River and confirmed by DFO. Aquarium release is likely the cause of introduction. #DontLetItLoose

This summer we set up our decontamination unit at a visitor information centre in Digby, Nova Scotia. We were there to inspect and decontaminate watercraft arriving on the ferry from New Brunswick.

This summer our team and some wonderful volunteers pulled dog-strangling vine from one of two sites we are managing. The plants are being solarised in these bags before being securely disposed next year.
