Even the Yakima and Naches rivers could see some flood impacts. In fact, the Yakima is projected to reach the 12th highest crest on record. If the Yakima reaches major flood stage at Kiona, it would be the first time since 1996. #wawx

Elsewhere, the Carbon and Skykomish rivers have already reached Major Flood Stage. The Puyallup is nearly there as well, and the NWS is now forecasting a long-duration Major Flood on the Cowlitz River at Randle. #wawx

The Grays River and Naselle rivers have shot past their forecasts and are now at Major Flood Stage! Major flooding in Naselle and Rosburg is imminent or already occurring! Expect water in lowlying areas and water-covered roads, including SR-4. #wawx

This Atmospheric River is set to bring potentially record-breaking flooding to rivers in Western Washington. The Snohomish is projected to set a new record while the forecast for the Skagit at Mt. Vernon would be the 7th highest on record, roughly on par with Oct. 21, 2023. #wawx

Sneaky little rain event coming for parts of western WA with a trend upward in this morning's model guidance. The Olympics and N Cascades will catch the brunt of it. Fortunately, there's not a lot of snow to melt and reservoirs have plenty of space. Still, some minor local flooding is possible #wawx

Not sure I’ve seen a hurricane with this much pink around it in this part of the world on the Tropical Tidbits site. Thinking of Jamaica tonight… #Melissa

Hurricane #Melissa down to 919mb per latest Hurricane Hunters recon data. Keeping Jamaica and Cuba in my thoughts tonight, this is going to be a generational hurricane event.

I'm liking what I'm seeing for snow totals in the mountains! Snow levels will plunge to around or even below 4000 feet on Sunday. Then on Monday, while SLs may rise, still looking like a nice upslope event with impressive early season totals above 4500'. #wawx

I really wanted to make a career as a broadcast meteorologist work, but seemingly every day, something new pops up that affirms my decision to leave was a good one.

No, Mount St. Helens is not erupting. After a long, hot, and dry summer, strong southeast winds are stirring up loose ash from the 1980 eruption! Here's the view from a DNR Pano cam. Not something you see every day... #wawx
