Course the funny thing from my POV is ever since CW requirements were dropped it seems to have become more popular. Human nature to not want to be told what you HAVE to do, I think.
CW is a real multiplier for low-power, restricted-antenna stations, though. Adds 10 dB to your thruput.

True. I got my license via a Radio Club in Junior HS. Was the only one of 20+ to actually take and pass the test. It was a lot for a 13 year-old to take on, getting a novice ticket wasn't too hard, but anything else to the FCC office you go (I got General at 15 in '75), wasn't kid friendly!
