George Washington saw it coming by the end of his presidency, though. Political parties should have been made illegal back then:

It's essentially the predecessor of the Department of Defense. It existed until 1947, when the military was reorganized. The Department of Defense has been around since 1949.

That's somewhat encouraging. I have been seeing comments from people saying they are "finally proud to be an American" and similar bizarre statements, like "the US is finally respected again."...absolutely bizarre statements.

It's almost like Putin is *trying* to destroy Russia. You don't fix your population decline crisis by killing your citizens and making people afraid of having children. Why would anyone want to have children who are destined to be killed in a pointless war?
