Several of the founding fathers of the USA also founded universities. I suppose it makes sense that the people trying to destroy the USA would attack universities. Vance even gave a speech entitled "The Universities are the Enemy."

I think these fires wouldn't have spread as quickly through residential areas if there weren't so many palm trees.
The palms catch on fire easily, smolder for a long time, and they are the tallest things around; once they catch on fire, their embers travel super far and catch other things on fire.
