I'm a long time practicing attorney in coastal Oregon town. Too many people don't understand how government works. We need to require schools to return to teaching civics in school.
Newport, Oregon, had over 2600 protesters in a town of 10,000 people. The entire population of Lincoln County in which Newport sits, is 40,000 people. Over 4,000 people in Lincoln County Oregon appeared at the protests today. That's a 10% participation rate for Lincoln County and 25% for Newport.

So the official count for Newport Oregon for the Hands-Off protest was 800 people. Newport only has 10,000 people in it. That's 8% of the population including children that showed up.

This has got to be one of the most polite protests I've ever seen. Nobody blocked traffic or even occupied the bus waiting station. No outrageous actions just the one thing that really mattered.... numbers and there were a lot
