Electrification is simply better! Solar and wind are economical and effective means of generation that can and will displace burning fuels with careful, pragmatic supports.

For fuck’s sakes wanna-be prudent shit like this is why Canada’s economy can’t escape the unimaginative doldrums of exporting fuel for more real places to burn. Come on!

This post brought to you by trying to watch Nate Erskine-Smith’s budget video and being reasonably ok until he broke out the line about “my kids shouldn’t pay for…” They don’t! But if “progressive” voices are deficit scolding like this it’s no wonder folks are confused. 🙄

I would hope that leadership is canny enough to know that having a member with a broad public platform who’s willing to say “this is good, this is bad, we can do better” reflects well on them.

I like that Carney's started explaining what "trickle down" would actually mean, and how that's not what this budget actually is. A lot of folks have gotten way too comfortable flinging words like "austerity" around to mean "I don't agree with the budget priorities."

I would think that any west coast pipeline would also need to overcome the problem that the business case for building through a reluctant BC is *even worse* given Wab Kinew's apparent fervor for running an oil pipeline to Churchill: www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
ANALYSIS | The journey toward an expanded Port of Churchill has only just begun | CBC Accessibility
Compared to  other major projects  granted "national importance" status by Mark Carney’s Liberal government, the proposed expansion of the Port of Churchill is still a very fuzzy idea.

The extreme tension between OAS proposals is also startling to me. On the one hand you have the Bloc's proposals, which I believe are essentially pushing up the "tax back" threshold. On the other hand you've got the "generation squeeze" proposals to shift the tax back up front.

Would be even better if it popped up a line of bollards along either side of the crosswalk 😇

Likely reintroducing some version of the online harms act. Hopefully continuing to oppose NDP-style age verification scams.

Or perhaps he’s stopped biting his tongue, which he was also doing for political reasons? 🤔
