Starting the final leg of my journey to the @embl.org symposium “The Human Microbiome”

It’s been a surprisingly long travel day! I am really looking forward to seeing everyone there, and to Heidelberg itself, where I lived 9yrs. It’s always a pleasure to visit

Come say hello this week!

One of the most important men of my life, the one without whom I would not be here, was born 85 years ago today. Happy birthday dad, thanks for so much!

Really happy that I got to be with him on his birthday ❤️

Spent a few days in the #Pyrenees, #hiking and visiting goergeous villages. Beautiful and highly recommended- almost empty this time of the year and weather was perfect.

Gordon doesn’t let us post about the science, so apologies but you get only photos of the beautiful setting.

Excellent talks today - diversity of topics and systems.

Hans Georg Krausslich introduced HIV in the 4th session, which must be a record. Great talk!

Exciting few days of virus research, split almost equally between DNA, RNA viruses and a few other (ahem, looking at you retros).

It's a great, vibrant crowd

For years I’ve read @nytimes.com @elpais.com & @theguardian.com (at least headlines) every morning

I’m not one to hide my head in the sand but I think I need to stop for a while because it’s like doomscrolling & seriously affecting my stability

Off for a run 2 compensate. Nice pic for ur timelines
