This week's column is about the Arsenal midfield. The technical section (the 6 and the left-back), Declan Rice firmly as a left 8, what the pursuit of Norgaard tells us about what might change and what might stay the same and is there enough guile between the lines? 👇🔴⚪

The Arsenal midfield
The base of the Arsenal midfield was always set to undergo a face lift this summer. Thomas Partey is 32 and Jorginho 33, Jorginho played 311 Premier League minutes after Christmas and his move to Flam...

Compared to not only just the culture shock of living in the Global North, but also the restrictions of movement and vitriol they face daily. All because the mass murderer in charge decided today is the day to put these people in their crosshairs.

It just frustrates me when people boil the gauntlet of death and exploitation they have to endure because they want to just claim benefits and get a free house. They were living a much better quality of life in their home countries, paying taxes and contributing to their communities.

Eventually they call the Turkish coastguard & taken back to Turkey. It must have felt all that trauma and horror was all for naught. The idea that refugees come to the Global North to claim benefits and live off the state is an absolute myth. Most of them had better lives in their home countries.

Which happens in the documentary. They're in the middle of the sea and the dinghy literally starts sinking. People are pleading for the operator to call the coast guard and they say they're not in Greek waters and to wait, children were screaming and crying. It was horrifying.

Like one refugee says that a lot of these people are there because they were people of means, had well paid jobs as either business people or skilled work and they had to sell their houses, their cars, their possessions to chance it all on a dinghy that can easily start sinking.

And it just absolutely destroyed me 😭 the absolute trauma refugees have to go through just so they don't have to wonder if tomorrow is the day they're blown to smithereens is just unfathomable.

As part of my #OpenUniversity second year social sciences course I had to watch part of Exodus: Our Journey to Europe and watching these Syrian refugees leave Turkey and this little boy was in floods of tears because this family who he became friends with were leaving and he was staying

I posted Ice by Anna Kavan not because it stayed with me in a good way but because I had a thoroughly horrible time, it depressed the shit out of me but I could appreciate it for how well it was written and presented and that was why it stayed with me.

Listening to Julien Baker the past few days and her songs are like a big comfort blanket wrapped around me even though they can be haunting, depressing and lonely it just feels strangely comforting to just be in amongst those feelings.

This sort of thing really boils my blood. If this guy actually believed the sort of content he makes it would be one thing but he's just a grifter using clickbait to suck people in, drive traffic to his platform & his companies and ultimately fatten his wallet. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

In my humble opinion the World War Z film is a huge disappointment compared to the book. Not a bad film but compared to the book it’s mediocre at best.
