All the countries you’re comparing against have free mental healthcare

It could also be the lack of universal healthcare resulting in people who need therapy can’t get it
December 16, 2025 at 1:57 AM
There’s just no chance they’d be able to cover that up, I would argue mass shootings increased post Reagan because he slashed the safety net & increased the contradictions that resulted in increased alienation and created a type of disaffected nihilistic class of men who engage in these tragedies

I bet it would help substantially (3/3)

I’d have to think about more, but ultimately gun control isn’t going to to stop violent gun crime. We need universal healthcare (including mental) & a robust social safety net net that doesn’t have hurdles after hurdle to jump through and I don’t think that wouldn’t entirely eradicate it but (2/3)

I hear you, and agree that most gun owners are pro responsible gun ownership, but as laws stand anyone can walk into any gun store & assuming the background check comes back clean, walk out with a gun with out any sort of training. Do I think that laws should exist to change that? I’m not sure (1/2)
December 16, 2025 at 1:16 AM
Possible to purchase a gun without knowing gun safety is just factually incorrect (I’ve since received training to be a responsible gun owner)
December 16, 2025 at 1:08 AM
I successfully bought an AR-15 from a local gun store having only fired a hand gun once a decade ago with someone more knowledgeable present. I’m generally pro gun and historically gun control has only been implemented to target the marginalized (see the Black Panthers) but claiming it is not (1/2)

What if we just instituted universal healthcare (obviously including mental healthcare) this would help prevent shootings and cover the case above as well?
December 15, 2025 at 9:08 PM
full agreement there. the way our country prioritizes a small amount of the monied class over the overwhelming majority of citizens is wildly immoral
December 1, 2025 at 5:24 AM
oh sure, mental health is just one factor, but generally speaking if there were good wages and a robust safety net ensuring everyone's basic needs were being met I don't think it's crazy to extrapolate that violent crime would go down.
December 1, 2025 at 5:17 AM
I don't know if they're explicitly trying to cause it, but I think it's safe to say they don't care. I think in their mind, having a surplus of workers who are all competing for jobs benefits them cause it pushes down wages
December 1, 2025 at 5:11 AM
I'd be willing to bet if there was robust mental healthcare/social work services in the US it would cut down on homicides as well, but I think I read statistically most gun deaths in the US are suicide so it would help regardless
December 1, 2025 at 5:06 AM
yup, treat root causes and violence goes away.
December 1, 2025 at 4:55 AM
also having access to universal healthcare probably helps keep people with mental health issues from doing bad shit

The man was likely a CIA asset and this was likely orchestrated to justify further militarization that's more likely how he got the gun

Also I'd love if you could point out a historical example of voting ousting a fascist? Historically, the only thing that stops fascism is unyielding force

I think it’s pretty obvious to anyone who has struggled to afford healthcare…
