Using a state house race in a solidly blue district really isn't a particularly convincing argument that can be extrapolated to a national level
February 4, 2026 at 9:23 PM
That districts elections prior to ICE don't look particularly different.
February 4, 2026 at 9:21 PM
But keep up the name calling it really makes you seem calm and reasonable and coming from a place of rationality and not pure reaction
February 4, 2026 at 3:06 PM
I don't see where I called anyone a shitlib or said I wouldn't vote for libs, I voted for Kamala. I just think in the present moment we need to consider options outside of electoralism to fight fascism given there is a high chance of elections being compromised.
February 4, 2026 at 3:03 PM
I hear you, I've just not seen that to be historically accurate and I don't believe in American Exceptionalism enough to think we can't fall pray to the same tactics that have historically been used by fascism to neuter the electoral process. This isn't too say I can't imagine fascism being defeated
February 4, 2026 at 6:10 AM
they illegally bombed boats and invaded Venezuela but realistically I don't think we're going to see eye to eye here. I genuinely hope voting works out for us. I don't think it will and I think we should prepare for worse but if you don't that's your right.

as answered above:
brutal totalitarian force.
February 4, 2026 at 5:46 AM
Did I misunderstand the question?
February 4, 2026 at 5:43 AM
You asked if I believe it will magically just happen. I said I didn't.
February 4, 2026 at 5:43 AM
if you can point to instances in history where electoralism has defeated fascist totalitarian regimes I would love to see them and change my mind. I just don't think there have been many instances of that that I'm aware of
February 4, 2026 at 5:42 AM
No, I believe the full force of a fascist government will find ways to maintain power regardless of legality because I have read the history of fascist governments taking & holding power. Magic doesn't factor in at all; brutal totalitarian force that they've demonstrated they're willing to use does.
February 4, 2026 at 5:40 AM
No, I understand the point that he was trying to make, I was indicating I don't subscribe to the worldview he's ascribing to me, and don't view that as a particularly beneficial tactic
February 4, 2026 at 5:35 AM
No I can't, but I don't have a federal governments worth of legal scholars. Additionally, it doesn't really matter if there's a legal way to stop/manipulate/etc elections because if said legal scholars can't figure it out they'll just do it anyway. It's also not legal to execute people in the street
February 4, 2026 at 5:33 AM
Saying there are options to organize against fascism outside of electoralism is not illegal and is a perspective more people should consider, especially given that our election infrastructure is likely going to be manipulated soon.
February 4, 2026 at 5:27 AM
I haven't name-called at any point here. In civil debate, you can push back without name-calling
February 4, 2026 at 5:24 AM
If you can provide actual historical examples of fascism being defeated by elections and not just tell me "google is your friend" with no real context, I would love to stop prepping for the worst. genuinely.
February 4, 2026 at 5:22 AM
How would firebombing a Walmart be an effective tactic?
February 4, 2026 at 5:13 AM
Do you think name-calling is operating in good faith and going to win hearts and minds to your side?
February 4, 2026 at 5:10 AM
I think you're failing to understand the severity of the moment if you think electoralism will save us. I will give you time to read this post after I post it & will likely block you, as I don't want to be called a conspiracy theorist for having a firmer understanding of how fascism functions
February 4, 2026 at 5:09 AM
I think if you really believe the only way to defeat fascism is in the arena of electoralism, you lack imagination and fail to understand the moment, as said before
February 4, 2026 at 5:03 AM
This conversation isn't productive, and if you're just going to be condescending and aren't going to engage in good faith please don't repost my posts.

it doesn't matter, The administration and republican party doesn't follow the law and has control of the highest court in the nation
February 4, 2026 at 4:56 AM
My partner has a PhD in political science and we frequently talk about the current moment but go off
February 4, 2026 at 4:52 AM
If the only lengths you're willing to go to to stop absolute fascism is voting it's actually you desperate to capitulate
February 4, 2026 at 4:51 AM
Yeah, I think you're failing to understand the moment
