A COVID-aware chimpanzee from the year 3085.
So many happy childhood memories associated with those logos. Lovely to see them so polished!

I’m in the same boat with my daughter too. We’ve watched a lot of Prodigy, Lower Decks, TNG, TAS and TOS…but when I told her there was a show meant for kids *her age* she was just thrilled.

Maybe in the minority on this one, but I've always felt these shots diminished the mystery of V'Ger. lt feels impossibly vast in the theatrical cut, too massive and bizarre to be captured in a single frame. Seeing it in it's entirety like this breaks that spell.

Spot on. Popular fiction gifts us with a shared cultural shorthand to process complicated, unpleasant truths.

That something like Andor can provoke *literal millions* of people to consider these issues is immensely valuable.

I also think DS9 reads more optimistic now relative to how grim-dark the franchise (and television in general) became in the last decade — so much of Discovery and Picard were grotesque and hopeless.

Yes! I've been hearing those ornaments talk over each other every Christmas for most of my life.

I love how, because the Delta Flyer clip is slightly longer than the others, the cacophony always closes with a crisp, clean "...we're on a mission of peaceful exploration" from Janeway.

I’m so sorry for everyone’s losses and for the people who now have Long Covid. Please remember that the pandemic is ongoing and unfortunately not confined to the past. Covid killed ~5,000 Americans in September 2024, when it spread more than anytime in 2020.

This would have changed my life.

Was really worried from the tone of your final tweet that we'd never hear from you again - so I'm super relieved to find you here!
