I agree, LLMs are not a path toward AGI. I still believe we might be able to create it in the future, but for that to happen some people would need to realize that our cognition is embodied & enactive, not created in a vacuum. Maybe then the paradigm would shift & this bruteforcing would stop

We borrow imaginary $ from ourselves, overconfidently following the herd out of FOMO & betting on a cool, popular story. Since it’s a zero-sum game, most bets will lose, but some will win big.
Economic bubbles are useful.
Capitalism doesn’t care, it just exists.

But haven’t we learned anything? Why are there no mechanisms to prevent this?
It’s because infinite growth is a feature of capitalism. Since such a thing is impossible, economic bubbles are a mechanism for creating enormous transfers of wealth & the semblance of continuous, miraculous growth.

"Why 10?
Psychologist George Miller asked why we tend to favour a quantity of about 7 for categorizing things—7 wonders of the world, 7 deadly sins and 7 days of the week... But those of us interested in strategy are, of course, no ordinary mortals, and so should be able to comprehend more."
