Thanks to our support, Kim secured grants, organized a workshop for the Baby Dolls at the BK House, and had them featured on our upcoming album for the Library of Congress! Here are a few photos of the Baby Dolls performing in the beautiful gardens of the BK House in December 2024.

Dr. Kim Vaz-Deville has been working with the Baby Dolls — a century-old Black masking carnival tradition in New Orleans — on relearning traditional songs performed in Louisiana Creole.

Rois & Reines (& Jeanne d’Arc). Hier soir, notre cofondateur Scott Tilton a été couronné roi du Krewe de Jeanne d’Arc. Chaque année, l’épiphanie (6 janvier) marque le début de la saison du carnaval et le Krewe de Jeanne d’Arc ouvre les festivités avec une somptueuse parade à travers le Vieux Carré.

Nous avons eu l’honneur de poursuivre nos recherches à la Bibliothèque du Congrès dans le cadre de notre projet Musique(s). Avec le soutien du American Folklife Center, nous avons pu consulter de nombreuses archives, notamment les enregistrements effectués par John Lomax dans les années 1930.
