Seemed to capture the market in dreamy/Marienbad "is this really happening" roles, (which IIRC Daughters of Darkness had an element of), then had a side line in spy thrillers (Siegel, Zinnemann). Dielman probably belongs in a class of its own!

Also (via wiki) some intriguing feminist docs..

Seyrig must have one the best filmographies on the planet.
An unbelievable run of collaborations. Resnais, Bunuel, Akermann, Losey

Have often wondered if her small role as Francesca in Accident is basically reprising "A" from Marienbad

I think it should be an actual New Yorker profile.

I am sure millions of folks in the big apple would savour the tribulations of an unemployed school teacher in Stoke agonising over the mocking taunts of schoolboys about seagulls.

Schadenfreude is a shallow, immature and possibly even shameful response but on certain occasions it is too hard to resist.

It is hard to square some of these migration headlines with the obs that the UK is shutting down primary schools.

Potential deep irony of a future gov trying to reverse anti-immigration policies to bolster the pop. and doing the opposite of a 2 child cap ??

The grammar school Bond!
Tt is the photography that always makes this stand out in my memory. extreme stark angles, vertically downwards through a lampshade, jaunty framings of these military types in their overside whitehall offices.
And all over that pulsating, almost mocking John Barry score.

I was despondent the More United idea never took off in those heady immediately post brexit years.

However i think it’s time may have. come.

None of these progressive left parties are credible as a solo enterprises but so long as a candidate can pass a simple checklist they may be supportable.

interesting that so much wealth is in pensions vs. fin.
portfolio.
I thought there was cap on the amount that can be put into a pension tax free (200-300k?) so incentive to put it there rather than a general fin. investments limited?. Not something I have had cause to learn too much about...,

In my hazy memory from the 70s/80s the fussy professorial nature of McWhiter gave a lot to the idea that the Guinness Book of Records were "offical" in some sense, and a big achievement.
Rather than a cheesy promotional concept for a beer company.
