A cheery cloud of creativity chanting OM; butterfly caretaker; smells like cardamom
A cat at 2 a.m.
Eating a freshly dead mouse that it has gleefully tortured and cooed over
For too long
Sounds a lot like
Someone,
Two cubicles away,
Blithely
Mindlessly
Eating a bag of Doritos.

Woke this morning thinking about Charles Mills’s notion of the “epistemology of ignorance,” the collective agreement, on the part of some, to see the world wrongly and through distorted, delusional lenses.

It's not fashionable to talk about consuming less as a climate solution because our economy is based on selling us crap that no one needs. Still, I challenge you not to buy anything even if there's some crazy Black Friday sale.
It's not Black Friday yet but Amazon has already launched a bunch of sales, with price drops on everything from air purifiers to electronics and kitchen gear. We're scanning all the newly live discounts to find you only the best deals: nyti.ms/49api6U

First one done. It's so groovy I must go forth and get my groove on making a cool companion for it.

One of the many art things I do is make jewelry out of as much garbage as I can. Here I'm using a random yarn I found at the thrift store, a plastic lid and an ugly painting I also found at the thrift store. Recycling plastic is particularly important to me since it's so hard to recycle that ish!

Let's talk about how to report on right-wingers without amplifying their hateful rhetoric. Far-right extremists count on YOU to spread their messages for them. Here's a thread of resources.

I now adore this jacket. I'm actually teaching clients in a local homeless organization's substance abuse recovery program this technique so they can make their own hoodies/jackets so I'm super excited to show it to them next class.

If you look closely you can see i quilted the butterfly appliques.

I started by dyeing the hoodie. Then I drew the butterflies, converted the drawings into silkscreen prints and, using applique and quilting techniques, I added the prints to this hoodie.

Fast fashion is an absolutely astoundingly powerful source of environment destruction so I avoid buying any new clothes as much as possible. I like to convert ugly thrift store stuff into not ugly stuff e.g. this hoodie! It was pretty ugly when I found it but now it's not!

So fuck it I'm just going to share em all. One of my specialties is "fiber". I do many different things with different fibers. I love to quilt, dye, silkscreen, paint, draw on and sew them fibers....any fiber...but my favorite dinners are shit people have dumped at the thrift store.

Oof it's been a minute Bluesky but I'm here I'm here ready to share some of the stream of creativity that flows from my fingertips daily. I have such a huge swath of media I work with it is very difficult for me as an artist to do what others do and pick one and do that one only.

It turned out really nice and really comfortable but most importantly to me it is made from recycled plastic. I feel like recycling plastic is one of the most difficult things to do but it is also the most important that I as an artist can do.

It was actually fairly difficult to design so that it would stay in one place on the forearm without restricting movement and have it be comfortable. And since it was so wide it could have become very unwieldy and heavy so I had to design around that too. It was an interesting challenge.

I started with an empty yogurt container, some ancient/ugly ass mismatched plastic buttons, an old truly fugly leather coat from the 80s and a random scrap of lime green leather and this is where the forearm bracelet design idea ended up.
October 11, 2023 at 6:52 PM
Last month I was randomly thinking about bracelets and I started to wonder what a bracelet would look like if it stayed on the forearm instead of on the wrist. There are historical examples of forearm cuffs but I wanted to design something not cliche, like a snake 🙄 or Wonder Woman-ey goofiness.

I have an apple tree in my yard and when you find yourself in that situation it's a game of sudden death, apple flavored. I don't like many of the sweet apple things that most people make so I made a blazing hot apple chili garlic sauce this year that sounds weird, yes, but it's AMAZING.

My first post on here so I'll share a photo of the young milkweed bugs (Oncopeltus fasciatus) on my milkweed. My milkweed is covered by either a plethora of babies or scads of mating adults. There is no in-between.
