I read this article at the time, it crystallised my thoughts on UK politics. Nothing has changed. Starmers last minute statement on not returning to the EU in his (or my lifetime) meant i could not thankfully vote Labour. Labours unwillingness to tell hard truths or accept PR Dooms the UK to limbo.
In July 2023 ie a year before the last GE, I wrote at length about how Labour seemed set to become a one-term and done government.

So far, nothing has happened to convince me that my assessment back then was wrong.

If anything, it's looking even more clear cut now.

How Labour can avoid a one-term disaster: a Brexit and PR roadmap
Britain is at a crossroads. The next general election may determine the fate of the country for decades to come. But Labour face a daunting…

@mrjamesob.bsky.social I won't vote for a party willing to accept that we have become what Farage wanted all along. I will only support those prepared to fight for the soul of our country. Hope not hate. Labour are finished.

Dear #America , when you happen across the despicable excuse for a human being you elected as President / King don't Boo him take a tip from us this side of the pond. The chant should be "Paedo" repeat ad nauseum. He'll love it

I have to live here. I'm depressed every time I leave the house. My MP , the Local and County council and the Police have no plan to EVER do anything. Not to mention our Government and Prime minister.

Sorry but having suffered through the entirety of Starmers wishy washy word salad I almost lost the will to live. Sometimes less really is more. He's no Wes Streeting. He wants to waste money propping up 20th century businesses and said nothing about the intimidation people are facing daily.

Painting and waving the English 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 flags in the face of people who look or sound foreign is also racism.

And yet the country is full of these flags and the government doesn't make it a priority to take them down.

empty words from Labour.
Starmer: “Controlling migration is a reasonable goal- but if you throw bricks and smash up private property that is thuggery…if you incite violence that’s criminal…if you graffiti on a Chinese takeaway telling them to go home, that’s not pride that’s racism.”

The longer this goes on the more convinced I am the only way to fight populism is more populism. We need a progressive voice to act as a lighting rod for those that find the politics of hate and fear repulsive. Remind the people what British values really are. Same in America not a politician.

The simple fact is that if Starmer believes Reform poses an existential threat, he has a remedy to hand: PR. Using the threat of Reform to push for Labour as the binary choice under FPTP is cynical opportunism and doesn’t avoid disaster for the UK
Chris Mason: Starmer unflinching as he seeks to take on Reform
The prime minister has stepped up his framing of the "open fight" between Labour and Reform UK.

Minding my business in my bathroom shaving. Outside window someone loudly saying how many people had arrived by boat with window cleaner. I snapped leaning out and shouting i don't want this crap outside my house & don't want to hear it from you if you want to keep cleaning my windows. Fuming.

Possibly one of the most inept management performances I've seen in 50 yrs. Cordoba looked like a competition winner, not a footballer.
Absolute dog shite.

Isn't it ironic we appear by your measure to have ceased to be a democracy as what passes for our Prime minister Is no more than a puppet for the whims of the fascist leader of another country. Not sure how economic issues have any relevance. Taste the sovereignty. @mrjamesob.bsky.social

Dear Flag shagging twats. Rearrange this in whatever order you like minorities are interchangeable Refugees, immigrants, Muslims, Trans people etc.. demonising any of them won't make your life better. Human rights are universal for a reason as sure as night follows day they'll come for yours.

Mounjaro has changed my life. After 6 months I lost 60 lbs. I have always exercised 3-5 times per week and been on a diet for most of the last 35 years. I managed on the lowest 2 doses and whilst the food noise never truly went away it allowed me to say no even when the cravings were awful 1/

The more Labour stampede right, the emptier the vacuum for the LibDems to go "Let's just ****ing rejoin the EU already!" and snaffle up votes.

But it would need to be a loud, proud and sustained message. Not a policy line item on their website, but front and centre in all comms.

2025 is NOT 2019.
