Not surprising. It's through technologies like washing machines and microwaves that people can live alone, have a full time job, take care of themselves and their homes and still have time left over for fun.

In my setting there are creatures called echoes that can mimic humanoid forms and voices, but aren't intelligent, they just repeat what they've heard before like a parrot. Luckily for them they have heard a lot of people shouting in combat and use this to confuse their prey.
