Ideas. Innovation. Education. In that order! Was Boston's paper of record, now a press release for neoliberal ed foundations. Parody. Not affiliated w/ Globe.
No parody. U.S. Nazis have the right to parade and spew hate speech, but a teacher can't say her honest feelings on social media about Charlie Kirk who routinely used hate speech (and said worse things about the attempted murder of Paul Pelosi). Got it. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nationa...

Also, this is something like 5 exam school admission changes in 5 years. Give time to see how they play out for a few years. Then, make adjustments when you have enough data. Seems like they are just making changes to appease one (white) group (because they are!). 😉

No parody. Current exam school admission process is working as intended. Meaning, it ensures all Boston kids have equitable access to the exam schools. BPS claims these new changes will not make much difference. Why change them? (Because BPS is understating the negative impact!)

"One" Mass. school? Many schools in Boston have fun and welcoming first days. Maybe the Globe could add some BPS schools to their rolodex? Oh wait, they only do stories on those schools when they want to make them look bad. Check out what they did at the Trotter. www.facebook.com/reel/2257037...

The Globe apparently just hates teachers so much, that they are willing to platform Trump-loving free-market nut jobs from the Hoover Institute. Remember when the Globe use to be Boston's paper of record and not a mouthpiece for the highest neoliberal bidder?

No parody. Teachers get paid less than other professionals with similar levels of education. They don't pay social security and also can't receive it. The least we can do is make sure that they can retire someday. Also, it is probably one of the reasons that Massachusetts has less teacher turnover.

Also, wasn't Christopher Huffaker suppose to be the Globe's education "data reporter"? Just the facts, Jack. I guess that title was to disguise the fact he's just another Editorial Board shill, pushing neoliberal education talking points in his stories. Guess it's really hard to act for that long?

No parody. Can you imagine the Globe running this same story, but substitute "Massachusetts Teachers Association" with "Real Estate Investors"? Where's the alarm at all the dark money supporting public education privatization? I guess we should only be alarmed that teachers are now in the game?

No parody. The thoughts of a teacher rightfully fired for racist and anti-queer comments is not evidence. Absurd that the Globe would give her a platform. Sometimes there is no expert who disagrees when there is strong consensus. Globe should know better. www.boston.com/news/local-n...

Also, what's up with the whimsical language in this editorial board piece. Using "just dandy" and "his daddy" with strange comparisons to the baseball player with the same name? Globe editorial board trying to be cute just comes across as out of touch and unprofessional. 😉

No parody for a moment. I doubt that Commissioner Pedro Martinez will read the Globe, just like most people in Boston these days. But, if he does, he would be smart to do the opposite of whatever their editorial board suggests when it comes to education. 😉

How else will our real estate buddies get even richer??? Those old buildings are so great for condos! The pace has been slower than they require to gentrify the neighborhoods at a profit reward that's worth the risks. Screw the kids. Money money money! 🤑💰 www.bostonglobe.com/2025/01/28/m...
BPS has closed dozens of schools since 1980. Despite declining enrollment, the district has held on to most of the buildings. - The Boston Globe
The majority closed Boston Public Schools sites are either currently a BPS school or are slated to become one again.

And John, we mean that we need to close many many many schools in Boston (well, not "we" as we Globe board members sent/send our kids to suburban or private schools). Like a lot. Like "massive" numbers! A controversial report that we very much agreed with. www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2016/0...
BPS review suggested massive school closures - The Boston Globe
An early draft of an audit suggested Boston Public Schools could save up to $200 million by closing 40 percent of its schools.
