Ideas. Innovation. Education. In that order! Was Boston's paper of record, now a press release for neoliberal ed foundations. Parody. Not affiliated w/ Globe.

So X got strange fast! Yes, we are now finally here too! I still like all things related to the privatization of public education and making more charter schools (just not in the suburban community where I live). [Will you follow me? We can make fun of the Globe's bad education coverage together!]
Voters were clear that they didn't want an MCAS graduation requirement. Politicians are clear that they don't care about voters (they serve business groups after all!). Look for a Globe editorial supporting a "new and improved" MCAS graduation test soon. www.bostonglobe.com/2025/10/16/m...
State mulls end-of-course tests, but officials insist they won’t be another high-stakes graduation exam - The Boston Globe
State officials said the recommendations are not final and the tests would not necessarily be high stakes.

As much as we hate to admit it, occasionally, the Globe gets an education-related news story generally right. This happens to be one of them.

BPS proposal reawakens debate over who gets to attend Boston’s most competitive schools - The Boston Globe
Amid Trump's DEI crackdown, Boston’s school leaders are proposing a new admission policy that threatens diversity progress for its elite secondary schools.

Charter schools are the best schools (because they don't have any of those pesky unions). Check out this "news story" on the first day of school, which is really just a full page ad for charter schools. www.bostonglobe.com/2025/08/26/m...
At this Boston charter school, students welcomed back with a walk down the red carpet - The Boston Globe
The Academy of the Pacific Rim Charter Public School ushered in the new school year and students with a red-carpet entrance.

It's the start of the school year, so must be time for our Globe editorialists to demand that we steal Massachusetts teachers' pensions and give them crappy 401Ks like corporate America did to the private sector back in the 80s.

Pensions vs. classrooms: Rising retirement costs are squeezing Massachusetts education - The Boston Globe
The state could address the pension challenge through one key policy change: moving new employees from traditional defined benefit plans to defined contribution plans similar to 401(K)s.

Breaking News! Can you believe unions donate money to candidates who align with their members' interests? Gasps! Clutches pearls! What's next? They will collectively bargain contracts and grieve violations of those contracts? #OnlyAntiTeacherPoliticiansPlease

New phone, who dis? This summer the Globe laid off their normal neoliberal BS opinion pieces disguised as news article (just benign education stories like these). I guess everyone goes on vacation, right? Hence, our hiatus. But, I guess they are back today and so are we to drag them!

Enjoy this disingenuous Boston Globe headline implying there is "common sense" to an executive order conflicting with research on race and "school discipline." Common sense (and evidence) actually led to a decline in racial disparities that Trump wants to return. www.bostonglobe.com/2025/04/25/m...
Trump seeks ‘common sense’ discipline in schools; critics warn of civil rights rollback - The Boston Globe
A new executive order is the latest salvo in a back-and-forth that extends back to a 2014 Obama policy that brought "disparate impact" principles to school discipline.

Enjoy this desperate piece from our Editorial Board trying to flatter the new commissioner of education in the hopes that he does whatever we say (like our main goals of state take over the Boston Public Schools and fighting with the teachers unions). www.bostonglobe.com/2025/04/24/o...
Pedro Martinez: A sound choice for Mass. education commissioner - The Boston Globe
Academic performance in Massachusetts public schools has suffered since the pandemic, and turning around those trends should be an urgent priority.

What??? How did we allow one of our reporters to write a whole story on why families and community groups are protesting school closures in Boston and not once mention how this is a great thing! We have our editorial overlord eye on you John Hilliard. www.bostonglobe.com/2025/03/09/m...

We've always liked Paul Toner (especially since he was the last MTA president to cave to our neoliberal education agenda). We'll do him a solid with this headline that seems like people don't want him to resign (many people do-including fellow councilors). www.bostonglobe.com/2025/03/24/m...

One of our editorial writers interviewed the Boston superintendent and decided that she could run the schools better. She wrote what appears to be a 7th grade-style personal essay about it. The kind of journalism that you have come to expect from us! 😂 www.bostonglobe.com/2025/03/28/o...
