Not in the UK but the only reason I could play hockey when I was 13yo was on a boys team, and even when my town got a girls team again, I kept playing with the boys because it was fun. So fuck this.

I’ve also competed against trans people. What’s obvious to me is that trans women should definitely be playing with and against me!

Some small number of cis athletes will find out they don’t actually meet the requirements. Some will quit instead of deal with the BS. Congrats Texas on a great idea to remove opportunities for women athletes!

Targeting trans Wyomingites instead of fixing problems that actually exist is so cruel and twisted. Maybe the transphobic WY legislators realized that if local schools can set their own policies around trans participation in sports, those schools will realize that trans athletes are a non-issue.

I’ve been playing roller derby with trans women since 2016 (the association got rid of their hormone level requirements in 2015, trans people played before then too) and trans women haven’t “taken over”. It’s imaginary fear-mongering.

I think they’re just getting started unfortunately. I’ve seen some gross posts on instagram trying to vilify specific trans high school athletes - there’s not a high number, but enough for transphobes to move on to new targets when their current target doesn’t work anymore

I’m cis and play roller derby so my viewpoint is colored by both of those things, but WFTDA’s policy since 2015 is that you can play if you identify most with women’s roller derby (so no hormone requirements or anything). It’s not perfect but it’s a relatively trans-inclusive sport.

I would be shocked if a man would pretend to be trans just to do well at sports, so I think doping is not a super fitting analogy.
