What a sad day. I’m going to be posting flowers on 小红书, while practicing my Mandarin and talking about communism and dissent.

I haven’t quite landed here or made any friends, Facebook is depressing, TikTok is dead, Twitter is a winning loser’s graveyard paradise and Reddit is full of chumps (and by chumps I mean basic people more often than not possessing a glans deferens). Back to real life I must go? Nooooooo!

Is Trump a demagogue?

“Demagogues exploit a fundamental weakness in democracy: Because ultimate power is held by the people, it is possible for the people to give that power to someone who appeals to the lowest common denominator of a large segment of the population.”

Absolutely, yes.

If anything, Thanksgiving is about appreciating and exploring local foods.

It wasn’t until today I learned axolotl is supposedly delicious! 🍬🦎

According to those that contributed to the Florentine Codex…

About to put this Apple Quince tart in the oven. So grateful for a local climate that allows me to have these fruits in the garden.

Cedar and other plant and animal material artifacts created by the Duwamish First People of Seattle, if you’re in the area and appreciate ethnobotany, I highly recommend a visit to the longhouse.

So lame to see that people are more interested in stupid lowbrow pointless brutality over the fact that we won’t be meeting global carbon emissions reduction goals thanks to 77 million selfish bastards.

Ever play telephone as a kid? Check out this Chimú (pre-colonial, pre-Incan Peru) communication technology constructed of two resin-coated gourd receivers, stretched-hide membranes stitched around the bases of the receivers, and cotton-twine cord extending 75 feet when pulled taut. Imagine in use!

The Anatomy of a Borb.

By fluffing up their feathers, they trap tiny pockets of air close to their bodies, which acts as insulation. Helping them regulate their temperature.

9 years ago, I was diagnosed with PTSD after witnessing my partner’s death. 2016 was the darkest year of my life as I struggled with the aftermath. This election cycle has brought up a lot of those emotions, giving a new place for that darkness to exist—this time I’ll reach out instead of go inward.

I’m not getting too much interaction so far on Bluesky but I’ll keep trying. It certainly feels like less of a shitshow than all other social media right now. Hi, I’m Chelsea and I am obsessed with the reproductive structures of plants.

Spotted this super twisty weeping Acer p. at the SeaTac Botanical Garden. A little frog chorus in the background as the planes roar overhead.

This flower looks like wrongly imagined, badly executed AI, but it’s real. It’s Trichosanthes pilosa var. pilosa (Cookie M CCBYNCND2). It’s night-blooming & pollinated by hawk moths. #Cucurbitaceae #pollination #Botany #TeamMoth #Sphingidae 🌾🧪🌱

I miss Carl Sagan, too <3
Today would have been Carl Sagan's 90th birthday. How fitting that he predicted the current state of our country almost 30 years ago. Worth reading. Happy Birthday, Carl. We miss you. 💙

Motivated to pick this up by a fantasy scifi post thread I read on here. First day on this platform and I’ve already been influenced. I’m on chapter 4 and will probably finish it today.

I feel like an alien, so out of touch with what’s happened in America. This quote has helped it make some sense.
