Getting into digital art, hoping to improve day by day. Profile picture made by @miaterasu.bsky.social
If anyone finds this I just want you to know, genuinely, that I'm sorry. I wanted this account to be an inspiration to others. I wanted to show people that you don't have to be big or start out the best to be good. It was supposed to be inspiring. Now it's just another story of failure. I'm sorry.

I could have spent some more time refining it - and I might do that tomorrow, since I want to see if I can give this some more depth. The more I learn from this the more I can apply to later works. For that reason I might rework the Gohan from a few days ago as well.

Something came out this week about this chara being stolen from another small artist and there's still some smoke. Maybe a good idea to not touch his chars with a 10 foot pole for rn. Don't know all the details I'm just friend of a friend and heard through the grapevine.

Also after getting away from the piece and coming back a day later I realize why my proportions look as bad as they do - the belt is supposed to cover the stomach, not the waist. I made it too low. This was an awesome experiment to learn from.

Here before the horny freaks to say I really like the shading - you did great on the lighting from behind and the front shadows!

I'm fully aware of my weak points, which this work brought to my attention as I made progress on it. Despite that, for this only being a 2 hour piece, I think it came out amazing given how before I started all of this I was still making stick figures.

You chose to repost my horrible work from last month first instead of my alien guy with the broken hands and the airpods this is horrible for the economy

Anyways this was mostly a goofy little sketch I did with my friends, trying out some art tips I found on YouTube. If someone finds this page and they're just getting into art, or they're trying to get back into art: I believe in you. I'm proud of you. No matter my follows or clout I truly feel this.

I truly hope that in 2, 3, 4 years someone looks at my art and goes "oh my gosh! I want to draw like that!" and they look back here, when I was struggling with anatomy, when I was struggling with facial structure, when I was learning from nothing and they go "I CAN draw like that! I can LEARN."

The art space is so full of this.. judge-y energy. Artists with bigger followings who tell you you're not worth their time, people who will abandon you for the next, bigger server or group once they've improved. It isn't every artist, but it isn't a very great intro to art.

Currently my tablet is on its last legs because I received a faulty unit, so while I wait for the replacement to arrive tomorrow this is all I could bring myself to work on. Hopefully this is a good look into how my process works, I take things I learned and put them together until I understand it.

the little character in the bottom left corner is a little doodle of my friend's character, but I'm learning different methods to build a body and ways to see the muscles/underlying form of the human body. I see in shapes not lines which makes learning easy in some ways and difficult in others.

We all start somewhere, I aim to see myself improve every day and I plan to post my wips/products here now as I go. If nothing else, maybe it's inspiration for others. For me though, I think this is a super fun hobby. My goal is to get good enough to draw characters/art for my other poor friends.

Today's been pretty wild, I opted to finish some practice and see how well I've done, then my buddy @miaterasu.bsky.social gave me some tips and guided me through some more of the process resulting in the last image, which took 4 hours total.

Yesterday my buddy sent me some practice sheets he found so I started banging out some spheres to get used to drawing heads. I did these then some drawpile stuff with my friends to goof around.

This was from day 1, when I was still getting used to my pen tablet. Hand eye coordination hasn't been nearly as hard as I anticipated it to be.
