Getting into digital art, hoping to improve day by day. Profile picture made by @miaterasu.bsky.social

Anyways this was mostly a goofy little sketch I did with my friends, trying out some art tips I found on YouTube. If someone finds this page and they're just getting into art, or they're trying to get back into art: I believe in you. I'm proud of you. No matter my follows or clout I truly feel this.
I won't be posting on this account anymore. I joined a friend's small art community and I felt that friend was being betrayed by someone speaking poorly, so I spoke up and told them. It's resulted in a witch hunt and everyone involved has eyes on me, waiting for it to evolve and for me to "slip up"

Did another small study on the main artwork for Cloyster, turned it into a color/shading exercise. It isn't pretty but as usual, I learned a lot about blending and color depth as I went. I want to develop a style of shading that isn't like my friends', something softer and more natural.

Today I sat around and said "so what I'm learning is very TRADTIONAL but I want to do something more stylized" and after a shitpost yesterday I sat down and picked a Gohan Dokkan card to reference, which I kept on the corner and worked on by eye. I learned a lot as I worked and I think it shows.

Today I decided to tackle something I've been dreading learning: hands. I've never been happy with hands and this was my first time really trying to draw them with any kind of proper structure. I'd like to think I made a lot of progress from squibbly bricks with nubs.

As a bonus here's my sketch sheet for today after that buff alien dude was done. If you want my suggestions for structure, there's a video out there by Jim Lee and he goes over the structure used in comics. Jazza also has an amazing book on structure basics with exercises.

I've been practicing off and on and I think I should be honest - I'm not about this online clout crap. I want to improve for me, at my pace. I think that's why I'm going to keep posting. Something for me to look back on and be proud.

So that replacement got delayed and in the meantime I did NOT want to miss out on my daily practice so I spent about 45 minutes doing some work and feeling out the shape of a body with a bit of a sketch/note page. It's very sloppy but I used colors to separate it for my own review

It's crossed my mind that I never said why I'm posting my entire art journey. Over the years I've heard that behind every great artist is hundreds and hundreds of discarded works and sketches. I want to put that to the test in a way and document the pieces that "didn't make the cut" along the way.

I'm not done yet today so expect some more but today I did a face warmup then looked at some body tutorials/aids from Jim Lee and DrawLikeASir, a quick google should find either if you're interested. You may be able to see my process as the session went on, this was about 3 hours of total work.

Just got into digital art, took a bit longer than a decade off from drawing and decided to get into digital to brush off the rust. Gonna be posting my art journey here, starting with what I made over the last 3 days since getting the tablet. Everything from here on should be in order of completion.
