More a jazz and easy listening Liberal than a classical Liberal. Cricket (Northants fan), literature, economics, politics & anything that takes my fancy.
Whenever I walk past this restaurant, I always think about Ivor’s line about Mother Palm and her five lovely daughters.

Niche subject, I know, I’m only posting for @giffordhead.co.uk who’s probably the only person on here who’d be interested.

Northampton Wine Society this evening. Fortified wine from Roussillon. All about 17%, so I’m surprised I can still type.

Getting on the #AdoorableThursday bandwagon with this example from Mobbs Miller house. Initially a Northampton Co-operative society factory, hence the torches on each side of the door. Then made units for the boot and shoe trade, now home to a variety of small businesses.

At the Albion Brewery tap tonight. Home of the finest beer ever, Phipps NBC. Worth visiting if you’re in the area, a very relaxing place to sit.

Even when you catch him unawares in his hotel, he’s maintaining his wardrobe.

Lunch with a speaker today with the Northamptonshire supporters club. The speaker was James Sales, very assured for a 22. Key thing for me was him saying the big difference with Boof is he wants them to enjoy playing.

That was one of the reasons I watch women’s cricket, they seem to find it fun.

Good headline work here by the subs. (My appreciation may be partially because I’m very fond of oysters.)

Ghost walk round the ancient borough this evening, hosted by the Civic Society. Plenty of new yarns I’d not heard before.

From Robert Robinson’s memoirs- when he went to interview TH White, author of ‘The Sword in the Stone’. As that concept has had a bit of exposure on here today.

Stumbled upon this substack that says that the American revolution was driven by pamphlets, much like how the foment today is from online shouting. No idea if it’s true, I just found it interesting.

Dead swans at Southbridge in Northampton today. It’s looking worrisome.

You wouldn’t think it had been raining horribly earlier

Bewitched is a local chain of coffee shops. The museum also had a stand, showing ancient artefacts to ancient artefacts.

We also had alpacas- no stuffed effigy of the famous Geronimo though. (No idea what the link is to Northants or St Crispin). Crockett & Jones had a stall but I neglected to photograph it. Our Reform council had a Northamptonshire flag up, so I assume that’s ok, it’s just the other flags.

It’s Northamptonshire Day, aka St Crispin’s Day today. So plenty going on in town and on the market square. Live music, loads of stuff for the kids, and local producers showing their wares.

Interesting! Spencer Perceval has been relegated to a quiz question, sadly, but we haven’t forgotten here, and there’s a good statue of him in the Guildhall

Of course Viz paid a tribute in their own fashion.

Goodbye and farewell to a real original. Used to see him out and about when he was going out with Scarlet West. A true character.
