(6) Just as Takuan told Takezou, Nakime is able to see the light because she decided to take hold of the darkness and live. Even without eyes, her sight takes shape through the concomitant light and darkness that is the Force. At that moment, that larger world is illuminated.

(5) This results in her confrontation with the darkness that resides within. At first she is bent on vanquishing it, but that only bolsters its power and results in her starting to be consumed by it. It is only when she realizes she can't win that she decides to take hold of that darkness.

(4) She then encounters a Tengu like jizo-statue, which opens the portal to a world of just the Force. Here she tries to see without relying on physical sight. To obtain her "new eyes", she must overcome that rejection of the darkness she harbors.

(3) Nakime's fight with the Sith leaves her blind (her name in Japanese suggests "no eyes"), and plunged into a world of darkness... a darkness she must take hold of to live. But at first, Nakime fears this darkness, and tries to turn her lightless eyes away from it.

(2) These are the words that Takuan (Zen priest) uttered to Takezou (Musashi) in volume 2 of the manga, but the lesson here applies equally to Nakime, the hero of this short.
