MAPS as a pharma outgrowth of the human potential movement; Hopkins as its academic counterpart, & a revivification of perennialism (w emphasis on Christianity+sprinkle of Buddhism

Costs were factor, but not for labs. Lack of professional mgmt & hires from p3 start. Profs brought in too late. Critical (& basic) safety data wasn’t compiled or ignored. Add in sus therapy that can see AE’s as a positive. Problems compounded when outsiders clashed with insiders.
