To me, it would be reasonable to spread jam on bread. With cranberry sauce, the liquid would soak in, making the bread a bit mushy and leaving the uncrushed berries to sit on top.

I don't know why I'm arguing this. I don't even like the stuff. I guess I'm feeling ornery.
