As a birder with 90% hearing loss, Merlin is indispensable for me. You just need to use it with a little bit of common sense and not take each match as gospel.

Had this bird off Whitby/ Scarborough in August 2012. Could conceivably be the same bird? I wonder if bill pattern can change with age?

I was gutted not to see any of these gems when we went for a short pre- Christmas break to Helsinki a few years ago.

Not a common bird in the UK, and this was by far the most confiding one I've seen.
