Hooded Crow west at #Sidestrand this morning . Also Spoonbill, Marsh Harrier, Grey wagtail and other bits to keep the interest. Hoody with nice clean underparts down to the vent/undertail coverts. Once a common sight in Norfolk in winter but alas no more. #ukbirding #norfolkbirding 🪶#vismig

If you told me when I was a kid I would be able to watch wild otters a few miles from where I live, I wouldn't believe you - they were near mythical in East Anglia. #otters #wildlifeuk

Russian White-fronted Goose. Always a treat to this species in our corner of Norfolk where they are generally very scarce, being away from their preferred wide-stretching grazing land. Such a dapper looking goose too! #norfolkbirds 🪶

Ok, so how do I get rid of all the cat posts on my ‘discover’ feed on here, I’ve even put block the word cat but every other post is a bloody moggy!

One of Sidestrand's little foibles, the Green Woodpeckers appear to stare longingly out to sea! 🤣 #birds 🪶

First seen as an adult in Feb 2019, our local Little Gull has once again returned for the winter to Hungry Hill in Norfolk, which is an unremarkable collection of random arable fields. I don't know why it keeps coming back, just glad it does! The worlds smallest gull species. #birds 🪶

Black-capped Petrel. This endangered pelagic bird breeds on a few Caribbean islands but ranges north into the Atlantic off of Florida where this one was seen in the Sargasso Sea #birds #birding #seabirds #pelagic

Crested Caracara. Distinctive raptor of open fields in Florida, I invariably see this species in pairs.

Barred Owls often hunt during the daylight hours, this was one of two watched hunting from branches/snags in Florida #birds

Gull-fest mid- week with a boat trip out of Wells, motoring as far Overstrand and back a few miles offshore. Up to 15 Caspian Gulls, 6 YLG + Bonxies, Arctic Skua and a juv Puffin. Unfortunately devoid of tube-noses but a great day never the less

This Pied Flycatcher flew in over the fields and my head to land in the wood at Sidestrand this week and started preening, having just crossed the North Sea - still amazes me what this little sprites can do!

Although it felt like After the Lord Mayors Parade this morning, a nice scattering of migrants at Sidestrand with 2 Redstart, 2 Pied fly and singles of Garden, Reed & Willow Warbler, Lesser Whitethroat, Swift, Wheatear in off, and the sun on my back. Best of the autumn so far.
