Being right all the time was exhausting - now I just strive for no obvious wrong
Our neighborhood does 2 events per year.

In the summer it’s a block party where we pull grills out and eat in someone’s driveway. Winter is a 3 house progressive dinner.

It’s such a fun way to stay connected and meet new people as they move in.

I have pleaded with my kids to do flashcards because the act of writing something out reinforces it in a different area of your brain. They're so resistant to it because they can make a Quizlet, but the times that they have done it, the test was easier 🤷‍♀️

Oh Wow .... that gave me chills

We got upgraded to first class once because of travel delays due to weather; People were BIG MAD at the agents. When we got to the front of the line I said, “Hi, it looks like we’re not going home tonight - what can we do for tomorrow?” Literally was just a nice human, and was rewarded 😊

I know this is about kicking, but it’s also how I used to play defense in soccer. I rarely got fooled.

It's funny because they're not picky in that they only eat certain foods. They actually eat a lot of different foods - it's just that they prefer them separate (meat / starch / veggie)

My daughter sounds like yours - she would always try things and not hate them, but not want to eat more of them.

My son has added a few things (Hamburgers/Tacos were a big no for a while but are now a yes), but he still won't eat lasagna (or actually any sauce on pasta - he doesn't like tomatoes).

How did you do it? Neither of my kids like foods mixed together, and are past the age of making them try a bite. I usually end up making things deconstructed, and then let everyone assemble their own to their liking, but sometimes it would be nice to just cook a lasagna 🙂

My son calls his girlfriend's mom "Miss Dana" even though she is obviously married. I guess I shouldn't count on him ever being NYC Mayor.

Ohhhhhhh, that makes sense. My sophomore got his first college mail this week and I was having trouble figuring out how he got on their list, but AP Bio ...

Only allowable in macaroni salad. It’s not meant for sauce.

Yep - which is why he went and talked to her in the first place.

I was very confused as to why I should send it, but I did. The situation was resolved, but I got scolded and told I should have him be the one to email in the future because it's good practice for him to take of things on his own.

THAT'S WHY HE CAME TO YOUR CLASS AND ASKED THE QUESTION!!

So sorry, but glad it was peaceful 💔

Sophomore son needs homecoming clothes and tonight is really the only night that fits in our schedule to go. But he just came home from practice, went into his bedroom, and SHUT THE DOOR. How am I supposed to know when we are going, to do this thing I don't really want to do? Also, I want dinner.

I know one 10th grader who uses it to help learn/understand math. The teacher gives a packet but doesn't lecture. When doing the HW, if he gets an answer wrong, he puts the problem into ChatGPT and asks for step by step instructions. Teaching himself, essentially. Only "good" use I have seen.

They finally got it, and I’m currently listening to it. It is strange, and kind crazy and horrific, but I also love it 💔

Removing the stress of mealtime by having frozen meals ready to go is so amazing. I made 6 breakfast sandwiches, and had 15-20 lunches/dinners ready to go, and I'm sad because I ate my way through them all. Time for another round, I guess 😊

You could also toast/air fry the English muffin but I’m going for speed 😊
July 18, 2025 at 6:31 PM
I spray a ramekin with cooking spray, crack an egg in it (break the yoke), cover with a wet paper towel and microwave for 1 minute.

Then I take an English muffin, top with ham or precooked bacon, and microwave for 30 seconds.

Plop the egg onto the muffin, voila! (You can add cheese but I don’t)

Breakfast always feels hard to me. Do you like egg McMuffins? I’ve got it down to 2 minutes now.
