"Canada Post is a service and not a business" was common knowledge until late stage capitalism brain rotted most people into think if it ain't making money for shareholders, it's failing.

They were able to stay on the family homestead as long as they did because companies were forced to put in utilities to these places, phone lines and later cell towers, but they could barely get internet while in the town of 4000 they lived just outside of, you can get a fibre connection.

Often these are "unprofitable" rural and isolated parts of the country that can already be disadvantaged or marginalized because the population is sparse and spread out. My grandparents lived 15 minutes from the nearest post office if the roads were clear and the weather was good.

If you start expecting institutions that exist for the benefit of the public to behave like their for-profit counterparts, generating revenue and chasing numbers that go up, you give incentives for them to cut loose services that no one else would provide

And that hurts deeper than I could have anticipated. I know with her health problems it's not always easy, it's sometimes dreadfully hard. But sometimes I sit in the middle of a pile of plans we made and never got to do, and wonder if this is what it's always going to be like.

Was really enjoying the series before this prolonged hiatus, looking forward to seeing where you're setting up shop for it next. As long as I can show up when the latest issue drops without having to watch an advertisement or shell out, I'm happy. Webtoon's been an increasing pain to use.
