A guy with a shirt with Rando written on it tells the author : so tired of hearing the left talk about fascism. it feels so disrespectful to compARE WHAT'S HAPPEning in the u.s. to the millions of victims of Nazi Germany. She replies : you seem to think that the death camps happened overnight, but it was a multi- decades long crescendo, filled with people telling the regime critics to stop overreacting. by its nature, the only moment you can call out fascist rhetoric is before fascism is fully up and running. I'd rather speak up early and be wrong than not saying anything and my silence be complicit. considering how in its first year, this u.s. admin has already caused 625k+ public man- made deaths* by terminating USAID progams and disappeared thousands of migrants, I'd say their contempt for human life should give anyone legitimate reasons to be worried. 4 frame comic. the first frame shows a tangram swan. text reads : they call it "aI", but large language models (llm) such as chatbots are far from intelligent: they are pattern- recognition machines that churn out whatever might sound like a reply to the thing you last said. 2nd frame shows inside a data center. text reads : that distinction matters, because the technology for actual aI simply doesn't exist. the only way for llm to get better is to feed it more data, transiting in bigger polluting data centers, scavenged always deeper into our devices. 3rd frame shows a child blowing bubbles. text reads : but once the whole internet has been fed to their llm, how can these companies promise neverending growth to their shareholders? that's what makes "AI" a bubble, kept afloat by circular investments and hype. 4th frame shows a chatbot logo. text reads : llms need us to keep interacting and coming back in order to grow. they are sycophantic by design. they amplify delusions and will never disagree with you or challenge your worldview. it's ripping apart communities for a few billionaires' hubris.

Respectful debates
four frame comic. someone with a microphone is doing a voxpop in front of a supermarket. he asks a buff guy with a red cap : sir! in the wake of Charlie Kirk's death, do you think the left is incapable of respectful debates? the guy replies : kirk thought women, people of colour and trans people didn't deserve their rights. Entertaining his ideas in a debate is actively legitimizing them. Why did he only debate college kids instead of other pro debaters like himself? he wasn't interested in debates, he was on a mission to radicalize the youth by normalizing his hateful discourse in the public space. which is precisely what he has been accusing teachers who were making their classrooms inclusive of doing, as he was doxxing them on his website to ruin their lives. is that your idea of a "respectful debate"?

Today's new unacceptable thing: The FBI agrees to hunt down state senators for exercising their rights. Texas Supreme Court ruled in 2021 that legislators can be civilly compelled to stay, but it is not a crime to leave the state to prevent a quorum.
