CLARIFICATION :

The Trevor Project's hotline will still be live. But basically this means LGBTQ people can no longer be connected to it through the US national 988 suicide prevention hotline.

They will need to be contacted DIRECTLY

So spread this around

Seems like we’re having a “great new people should run for office” chat again. Awesome!

However:

I have yet to be convinced that “more scientists in office” is a better outcome for science than “people who are talented politicians who understand and value science and listen to their advisors.”

I just tried this and it is indeed still working, at least for taking requests. Whether or not they'll ship remains to be seen, I suppose.
Here's a small weird potentially good thing: The USPS website is still, as of a few minutes ago, processing requests under the free covid test program. No idea when that'll be shut down, but it hasn't been yet.
