"Should you avoid getting anything too close to your scalp?"

Are you supposed to wear a biohaz suit to apply conditioner?

This month's movie is A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood.

I think it helps remind him that our father figures were caring people. Mr. Rogers fed his fish on set in every episode because a kid wrote in worried about them. And despite being a religious man, he never preached, he just was kind.

After that wait, I sent Mary Poppins (1964)

Because "A Spoonful of Sugar helps the medicine go down", the dad learns how to work to turn things around with his kids. They start traditions of flying kites together. He sees that whimsy needs to exist as well as structure.

I keep forgetting to catch y'all up.

After Bedknobs and Broomsticks, I sent Sound of Music. This one was kinda our personal family Lore. We viewed ourselves as the Von Trapps as we were a musical family, and both our parents being music teachers, we knew the songs very well.

🎠 Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Carousel (1956)

Grief, generational pain, and the lie that sacrifice makes you noble.
A daughter wonders why her father hurt her.
A man asks if he’s worthy of love after all he’s done.
It’s uncomfortable, haunting—and necessary.

A soul’s last chance to make things right.

Bedknobs and Broomsticks

A found family forms in the ruins of war.
A Christian occultist fights Nazis with magic.
A child holds the answer the whole time, but no one listens.
It’s whimsical—but dark.
Just like memory.

Sometimes what you remember wasn’t the whole story.

A story of hope, betrayal, and survival—told through the eyes of an immigrant child chasing freedom in the Wild West.
Fievel learns that even “the good guys” can be monsters in disguise. But when you see through the illusion?

You remember who you are—and why you keep going.

Ever After:
She wasn’t unloved because she wasn’t worthy—she was unloved because her stepmother couldn’t see her.
This movie unpacks classism, maternal rejection, and abusive family systems—and ends with a line that echoes:

“I will show her the same kindness she showed me.”

I haven't posted in a while, but the #empathythroughmovies trend has been ongoing.

Here's what else I've sent since my last post.

Ever After
Fievel Goes West, An American Tail
Bedknobs and Broomsticks

And for July,

Rodger's and Hammerstein's Carousel musical.

For the month of April, I'm sending Behind the Waterfall. A movie of dealing with loss and finding something greater than yourself. And maybe a little fairy lore from our celtic ancestry.

Early voting done!

This month's movie is Ever After, the Cinderella story with Drew Barrymore.

This was personal, because I was both the bookworm, and the one pushed to be the hardest working and the maintainer of the house, while both my brothers lived privileged childhoods.

But it's also a story about classism.

"I'm not robbing you, it's the government!" – says the guy who made $369 BILLION off taxpayer dollars.

Meanwhile, his fans cheer while handing him their last $20.

Apparently, Donald Trump is devoting his life to getting this one, simple question answered.

And then answer seems to be 🤷‍♀️

Just sent a a duo pack of The Help (2011) and Hidden Figures (2016).

This addresses systemic racism, inequality, and the resilience of marginalized communities, but they do so in different ways.

There's still no word as to if they're actually watching them, but I keep hope.

The internet never forgets, Eric. The internet is forever.

Also... we know, but it's helpful to see you admit it.

Turns out tiktok's algorithm is different after the shut down.

This might explain it to some techier folks out there. I got the gist enough for myself, but not enough to explain it.

A stopped clock is right twice a day! 😆 2 outta 3 ain't bad, ans we've been saying the future is female for a long time 😆

Considering embryos don't become "male" until 8 or 9 weeks of gestation... Trump just decreed everyone is female.

The future is female!

TikTok’s back...for now. A 90-day extension isn’t a fix, just a delay. Trump, who started this ban, is now playing 'savior,' but it feels empty.

Meanwhile, Meta’s waiting in the wings. Politicians invested in Meta just before this, and it all feels like a game of control.

Well... that's that.... for now?
January 19, 2025 at 3:59 AM
What does that say???

Who wants to bet it gets shut off for like... 24 hours, because of some stupid loophole?

I tolerated Facebook through Cambridge Analytica. I stayed when they undermined democracy and eroded trust in facts. I've been watching as they hired a Project 2025 architect, dismantled moderation, and openly welcomed misinformation and bullying.
