the much bigger issue is that subscribing to mute or block lists (mod lists in general) gives a lot of power to the list creator to your view of the app (labelers too, in fact. Even the cosmetic ones!). I remember somone else saying sth similar but there should be some way to override moderation...

most blocklists should be mutelists imo. For moderation hiding accounts/content from your own view is good enough, but blocking implies a step further - that some people should not be able to see or interact with you, which is also useful (?) but maybe people don't realize the implications
