Russia has been taught to NOT fight back for 500 years (Since Ivan the Terrible).
1917 happened only because they annexed parts of Polish-lithanian commonwealth with its strong inclinations towards democracy. I mean, look at perpetrators - belarusians, ukrainians, lithuanians...
