One way to pass the time on a flight…bring your old school analog grading with you.

Apparently this is the only company making $$ on AI at present. I can see why.

What was so remarkable about the protest in Chicago was how ages ranged from newborns to folks in their 90’s, people with mobility devices, folks of every imaginable ethnicity and background.

Turns out, Trump really does attract the biggest crowds. #NoKings

.@wsj.com on state of our federal deficit. Not a pretty picture. But I want to focus on this quote right here. Yes, spending rises because social security & healthcare costs. But to say gov't can't touch health costs politically? I call BS. That was #2 issue for voters going into 2024 election.

On Sunday my family went to this estate sale. The owners had to liquidate their entire life together because the dad was deported. He'd been brought to the USA at age 5 from Guatemala, 44 years ago, when Guatemala was in a civil war. His wife and child are American. He'd been trying to get status.

As Congressional Republicans argue that the shutdown is about a”far left agenda” just want to note here healthcare, and healthcare costs, were the #2 priority among voters going into the 2024 election, and the Big Beautiful Bill gutted healthcare.

Broke a nail on a dumbbell at the gym this morning. How’s your day going?

This week's seminar activity asked students to write worries for themselves, & for the world.

Me worries: Will I have a positive impact? Will I be a burden to loved ones? Am I going to make it?

World worries: hate, lack of empathy, growing division, violence/war, climate change, wealth inequality

This week was my first day of classes. My teens were jokingly asking why I never take 1st day of classes pics. So I took one.

13th first day of classes pics at Northwestern University.

PSA: If your patriotic civics education program for public schools requires systematic erasure of all the parts of history a dominant, powerful group doesn’t like, that’s not patriotism.

That’s whitewashing.

Finally finished editing my memoir about my brother (gun violence victim) & started the process of writing proposal & lists of prospective book agents. Took me a few years to get to this step. I’m proud of that. And of my native garden.

Really thoughtful piece.

America the Creole nation.

Don't vilify victims. Don't make it about us vs. them. All this does is create more violence, more hatred, more misery. It certainly won't do anything to prevent gun violence in the future. Common sense gun regulation is possible. And if done right, it works.

North America's only marsupial. Opossums are amazing and do so much good for our environment.

This morning I found a sleeping 🐝 on a flower. Watched it wake up with a jolt after laying there for a long while.

Then it gave itself a bath.

Then it abruptly fell out of its flower bed, caught itself before landing on the ground, and buzzed away.

Apparently even bees have rough mornings.

As GOP & Dems discuss expanding #gerrymandering in state maps to their respective advantage, I want to point out this project at Princeton demonstrating which states are least representative of their constituents. Spoiler alert, it's not just in GOP-leaning states.
