The sales pitch of AI may not feel anti-human if you focus only on the user in each individual scenario, but it nevertheless downgrades, insults or flat-out erases every other human around them. It has to do this because the product itself is nothing to shout about.

So the implication of the advert - the concept really being sold to us - is not how great the robot is but how rational it is to ignore humans. The human wouldn't know the answer, or wouldn't be honest with you, might not answer quickly enough or in a less pleasing tone. The horror! Oh, the horror!

Some of the other ad scenarios are "What if you had to choose what to wear and didn't know anyone to ask?" Bit bleak, but sadly plausible. In the florist example they have erased the person who would absolutely be standing there ready to answer. They *must* be there, staffing the shop!

I feel rude if I have a long chat with a friend about products in a shop / cafe if we are blatantly ignoring someone whose job it is to know this, and they would clearly like to help. Imagine blanking an entire human being to talk out loud to a robot instead. Expecially as it KNOWS LESS.

There's one where a woman is weighing up different cut flower options, asking the AI to point out cheaper ones and tell her how long they'll last. That is something the florist - who in real life would be standing right there - would help with.

I simply want the thing I bought to remain the way I bought it unless I agree to the changes. Nobody is allowed to break into my home and put extra scratchy labels in all my clothes or rearrange my kitchen so why is this fuckaboutery ok?
