Told myself when I started lifting a couple months ago that I'd get a belt once I crossed 2 plates squat and 3 plates deadlift. Figured that would take me some time to reach.

Well, I hit a 250 squat last Monday and a 355 deadlift this Monday. Good thing my bonus just hit so I can afford the belt 😅.

Went to the Wild game tonight. A rough showing, but two points is two points.

Next you're going to tell me that the Bond girls are actually all from the same royal bloodline.

Second, your chicken is generally food safe at temps lower than the oft-quoted 165 just because of how long it stays warm. This chart is super helpful for showing how long chicken needs to be at given temp to be safe. Pull white meat off heat lower than dark meat for texture/moisture…

Finally made it to Mariucci for a hockey game. Shame the Huskies blew this lead, but there were things I saw that gave me some hope.

Also visited the in-laws on the way back down and finally stopped in for a visit at the US Hockey Hall of Fame. Got to see a 1954 Zamboni, the scoreboard from The Mighty Ducks, and the WCHA’s Broadmoor Trophy (RIP WCHA).

Back from a weekend trip to Voyageurs National Park. Hiked a couple miles in the morning and took a boat tour in the afternoon. Saw: deer, loons, pelicans, an old fishing camp, several old gold mines, some neat quartz veins right in the middle of the trail, and of course lots of water and trees.

Just hiked the Bjorkland Trail at Lake Maria State Park. Very buggy, but the shade was pleasant and the lake view halfway through was pretty nice.

Double rainbow visible earlier from NW suburbs. This picture from the Plymouth Target parking lot. #mnwx

My team doing a Buzzfeed quiz about “Which National Park are you?” got me to hiking for the first time since college. Found a forest preserve trail in Maple Grove and went for it. Came across a neat little mushroom growing out of the middle of the trail.

Did the NYT Movies thing. Already regretting a pick, but it is what it is; I can still defend any of these making a top-10 list.

Made a pot of coddle to eat for lunches this week. My house smells amazing.

Two dinners I made this weekend, beef/potatoes/vegetables for summer and fall weathers:
1. Grilled sirloin, chimichurri roasted potatoes, spring greens/pepitas/craisins/bacon salad. Fever-Tree blood orange ginger beer.
2 Braised short rib with vegetables served over mashed potatoes. Guinness 0.

Hard to complain too much about a Wild win, but also this team looked like they won in spite of themselves.

Still 81 games to go and there are problems that can be solved; just a little nervous about how rusty some of it looked.

Feeling morally obligated to get a “SELL THE TEAM” bumper sticker, if anybody’s got leads on those.

Okay, so two things:

1. lol. Google doesn’t realize it’s a buffet. Nobody orders anything.
2. After 10.5 years living in Minnesota, this is the third restaurant to join my “absolutely never again” list. Food was *bad* (both in terms flavor and possibly in terms of medical safety).

Flying home from Boston shortly. Long weekend visit with my brother, but we got to a Twins @ Red Sox game, did the Tea Party museum tour, saw one of the last surviving complete Gutenberg Bibles (at Harvard’s library), had a home hot pot feast, and just generally had a good time.

LinkedIn now has an on-by-default setting to allow your data to be used to train AI models.

We need the legislatosaurus to wake up, smell the coffee, and make these illegal to turn on by default without obvious notice and without an initial opt-out period before the data may be used.

80% of the way through r/Fantasy book bingo for the year with 6.5 months still to go. I'd be closer to done, but I'm also trying to cram in a Stormlight Archives reread before December.

(To be clear: ratings here are not meant to be objective; some of these books were good, but not my cup of tea)

I'm still on the hellsite for now, but man it has gotten way worse in the last 3-4 weeks. Glad this place is taking off for real.
