Students who I find struggle to focus and engage with worksheet material are cooperating and making key connections. Today I discussed areas of shapes and relating the area of rectangles to triangles. Students realized how drawing a line in the correct spot creates two equal triangle halves.

Late to follow up but the day was highly informative and I’m grateful for having the opportunity to talk with teachers as peers in a more candid environment. In one workshop, we discussed the benefits and barriers surrounding small group instruction in math classrooms.

This is the first time I’m in school on a PA/PD day! Excited to join a community of teachers and gain some insight on math education.
