#SewAndTell Repair week is timely - this morning I heard an awful rip when I put on my coat, the armpit seam popped! The fabric was undamaged so it was just a matter of ladder stitching the seam shut again. I used this vintage synthetic silk doubled for extra strength.

I’ve knit the Montmartre Jumper and it is very dramatic! I recently got her book, Romantic Knits, and there are a few designs in there I want to knit, time permitting!

Continuing this WIP for #ShowMeYourKnits; these socks are knit with hand-dyed yarn from Ewe Felty Thing, an excellent LYS in Conwy, Wales. The colourway is called Autumn so it is perfect paired with this pumpkin orange.

Unfortunately this weekend I’m hit with a cold/period combo but I did finish these today:
Camp Out Mitts and matching cowl.
I bought a ball of Noro Silk Garden Sock on holiday to see what the Noro fuss is about, yes it is nice but my ball had 2 knots in it 😕

Try No. 2 of intentionally spinning sock yarn and I’m much happier with this! As you can see in the 2nd pic, it’s the right thickness but doesn’t have as much twist as commercial sock yarn. I’m ok with that, I will use it for colourwork, not on toes or heels.

The first yarn was my first attempt at sock yarn, it is ~11wpi, DK weight. The second is my second attempt, 20wpi, fingering weight. The third is commercial sock yarn, 20wpi, fingering weight.

I finished this. It’s good but I was aiming for sock weight for @jillianeve.bsky.social’s spinning frolic. It’s sport weight now and will probably puff up with wet finishing to a DK. I’m going to try again with the high speed flyer.

Finished my pair of #Socktober socks! These are Cirriform from Pompom magazine spring 2022. I love this pattern! It’s a quite simple ribbed toe-up sock. I usually never revisit patterns but I’m going to a pair of these for Mr Nova too.

It is made of 10 large crochet squares, sewn into 2 strips of 5 squares. Then the top and bottom of the strips are sewn together leaving openings for the head and body. Then the neck hole, sleeve ends and bottom are finished with single crochet, and I added a scalloped edge on the bottom.

This is the Blanca Flightsuit from Closet Core Patterns made in linen from fabrics-store.com. I designed and wove the pocket trim and belt on my inkle loom. The finish isn’t the best, I made it in a rush for a concert, but I still love it!

A snood is a type of hair net that was popular in the 30s and 40s, especially as women start working in factories during WW2 after which they fell out of favour. But we should bring them back ‘cause they prevent bad hair days
